Director Sandra Hunt-Smith leads an stellar team of teachers and support staff on a journey to make learning fun for your child.


For the past 40 years, Sandra Hunt-Smith has been one of New York's leading educators.  Born and raised in Manhattan, Ms. Hunt-Smith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, in addition to Graduate Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Education Administration.  She is a respected member of the community in both education and community affairs.  

After beginning her teaching career at the Central Harlem Montessori School, Ms. Hunt-Smith blazed a trail for independent education on the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights and South Harlem, eventually taking the reigns at Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool in 1985.  She has continued to serve on various boards and educational committees throughout the city including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, The National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Board of Trustees of the prestigious Dalton School in Manhattan.  

Ms. Hunt-Smith is committed to continuing to provide the most up-to-date learning opportunities for young children across the areas of literacy, social development, science and technology.

Vanessa Capella leads the 2's & 3's program at Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool.


Vanessa joined Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool in 2015 with a wealth of experience as a Head Teacher in New York City.  A graduate of prominent liberal arts institution, Bard College, she is a native of the Bronx, New York.  Vanessa's educational background in sociology, coupled with experience guiding children ages one to five years allows her to support our emotional, educational and cultural development plans for your toddler. A bilingual educator in English and Spanish, Vanessa is also involved the development and inclusion of parents in developmental programs, in addition to regular conferences and an open dialogue.

Pamela's nearly twenty years of early childhood education experience make her an invaluable member of the Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool family.  With experience both in the five boroughs of New York City and abroad, including being bilingual in Spanish, Pamela is ready to help guide your child through the growth of preschool and beyond.


Daisy Rivera
Head Teacher - 4's & 5's


Supported by Assistant Teacher, Dillon Fairburn, Daisy Rivera leads our 3's & 4's class.  Joining our program in the summer of 2017, Dairy arrived with years of experience leading toddlers.  She has previously worked across New York City's five boroughs.  Daisy brings a strong academic background to Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool, with a degree in Early Childhood Education and History.  She has also completed professional development courses in CPR and first aid, school violence prevention, as well as infectious disease prevention.  Outside of the classroom, Daisy volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club and New York Cares.  In addition to being bilingual in English and Spanish, Daisy's experience and education brings an important perspective to helping your child learn, play and grow.

Dillon Fairburn

DIllon has been assisting the 3's and 4's class for the past seven years.  A native New Yorker, she has been teaching in the five boroughs for the past fifteen years.  In addition to supporting her head teacher with overall development and implementation of daily lesson plans, Dillon has several specialized  certifications including Math for Preschoolers and Child Abuse Identification.
